- Commonly affect Skin, Nails, Hair, Mucous membranes.
- Can also infect lungs and other organs.

- Spread through spores in the environment.
- Many live naturally in the body but can overgrow.

Types of Fungal Infections
- Superficial – skin, nails, mucous membranes
- Subcutaneous – under the skin
- Deep/Systemic – internal organs (lungs, brain)
Symptoms of Fungal Infections
- Itching, redness, rash
- Cracked or scaly skin
- Discoloured, thick nails
- White patches (mouth/throat)
How It Spreads
- Contact with infected person or animal
- Damp public places (showers, locker rooms)
- Contaminated surfaces
- Inhalation of spores
Diagnosis of Fungal Infections
- Physical examination
- Lab tests (skin, nail, blood samples)
- Imaging (for deep infections)
Treatment of Fungal Infections
- Antifungal medications: Topical (creams, sprays), Oral medicines
- Depends on severity and location
