What is Yellow Fever?

  • Yellow fever is a viral disease transmitted by infected mosquitoes.
  • Caused by a flavivirus, mainly found in Africa and South America.
  • Disease severity ranges from mild fever to severe liver disease with bleeding.
  • Spread through bites of infected mosquitoes (primarily Aedes species).
  • Not spread directly person-to-person.
  • Risk higher in: Tropical and subtropical regions, Unvaccinated travelers.
  • Incubation Period: Typically 3–6 days after infection.

Symptoms of Yellow Fever

  • Fever and chills
  • Severe headache
  • Back pain, body aches
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Fatigue and weakness
