Urinary Tract Infection

What is Urinary Tract Infection?

  • A urinary tract infection (UTI) is an infection affecting any part of the urinary system — kidneys, ureters, bladder, or urethra.
  • Most UTIs involve the lower urinary tract, especially the bladder and urethra.
  • Women are more likely to develop UTIs than men due to anatomical differences.
  • UTIs occur when bacteria enter the urinary tract through the urethra and multiply in the bladder.
